There's nothing wrong with loving Uncle Jesse!

There's nothing wrong with loving Uncle Jesse!

I now take a break from my vampiric readings and writings to go back in time.  To a time of innocence, day glo clothes, when Michael Jackson was the #1 entertainer in the world and The Cosby Show was my favorite television program.  In one of my other blogs, we talked about crushes and I determined that I would one day do a blog documenting my one time heartthrobs, mainly so we could all laugh at how my tastes have dramatically changed.  It’s funny, I really had a thing for blonds back in the day and now I’m all about the dark hair with light eyes.

Look at that hair, seriously. Mortifying.

My first crush that I can recall is Ricky Schroeder.  Sure, he dropped the Y when he grew up but back then he was Ricky, I remember it well.  I’m not sure if I was really into him or if I was envious of his toy train, but I did watch faithfully and even sent him a fan letter.  I really have no justification for this one.  It had to have been the train right?  RIGHT?

I had tons of these pics, Tiger Beatlike!

As I got a little older, I’d like to say my tastes got better but…well…I grew up in the 80’s.  Let’s face it, any picture I show you from that era is going to be hilarious and cheesy, that’s what the 80’s were.  So next on the list?  If you watched movies in the 80’s, you had to know The Coreys.  And everybody was a Corey girl of some sort.  You either liked Feldman or Haim.  I was a Haim lover.  What can I say, I adored The Lost Boys (shocker, vampires, even back then) and though Feldman often played the more sarcastic roles, Haim was the one I was hot for.  I don’t know which one is worse to say you liked now…I watched a few episodes of The Two Coreys and they’re both freaky and pathetic, but Feldman still has that Michael Jackson vibe even now, so I think he’s worse.  Haim just became an out of shape druggie.  What a dream!

Ha, look at that pose and those suspenders. Totally awesome!

I also had a thing for Kirk Cameron big time.   I loved Mike Seaver on Growing Pains.  He was cute and always in trouble.  I don’t think I could actually watch Growing Pains these days but at the time I liked it.  And he broke out of my blond mold, at least, so that was something.  Maybe a progression to now?  I’m not that embarrassed by this one honestly.  I mean the hair was terrible but that was the 80’s.

George, then and now, he makes me hold my head high!

And now we come to two who don’t remotely embarrass me, for even now I would happily fall into their arms.  Of course there was some unfortunate hair happening there as well, but still, hot.  I talk, of course, about George Clooney from The Facts of Life (which was a truly awesome show) and John Stamos from Full House.  Yes, I was hot for Uncle Jesse.  Who wasn’t?  And who didn’t love handyman George?  Both are still hot and still relevant, so they at least had longetivity on the crush list.

Yep, he was my first long haired crush.

I was not immune to the charms of musicians either, though my taste there ran a bit wilder.  Of course we are to the late 80’s now and my one true love was Joe Elliott from Def Leppard.  I can’t really be embarrassed about this one.  I was such a hair band groupie and he was my number one crush.  Loved his voice, his accent and his hair.  I wasn’t fond when he went to the brown, which is against my current likes as well.  What I liked about Joe was that he actually had a shape to him, so many hair band guys were so damn skinny.

He was cute...I'm embarrassed that I listened to the band though.

I had other musical crushes; Mark Slaughter, Sebastian Bach…I’m sure I’m forgetting a ton of them honestly.  They were fleeting while Joe stayed in the forefront.  I was never a Jon Bon Jovi girl though, he was pretty but never did a thing for me.  Bret Michaels either, which I am quite happy about, seeing where he ended up.

I’m certain that I am forgetting some heavy hitters but hopefully you guys will come weigh in and wake up my memory a little.  I hope you’ve enjoyed my look back at my youthful silliness and enjoyed it as I did.  The pics are what makes everything, I should have just slammed them up without commentary or attempted justifications.  Just remember, now you come here and get pics of Jensen Ackles and Robert Pattinson.  I have evolved beautifully!

Oh JD, the things you did to an impressionable young girl!

Glaring Omission!  I knew it, I knew I was forgetting someone of grave importance in my youthful life.  My first actual “bad boy” as a matter of fact.  Oh, he could play the good guy but it was always with an edge and sarcasm and a hint of wildness.  Danger sometimes.  This is an egregious oversight on my part and I had to come back and add him to my list.  And talk about him.  For if I had a “lasting” crush, he was surely it.  I still see anything he does even though his hotness has worn off for me.  But back then?  I loathed his costars with every fiber of my being for getting to touch my man.  I fell for Christian Slater the first time I saw Pump Up The Volume and then he had me forever with Heathers.  JD!  Psychotic.  Hot.  Dangerous.  Hot.  Disturbing.  Hot.  You get where I’m going.  So I’m back to add him to my list and include one of the pictures that can still make my heart go pittypat.  Sorry to forget you Christian!  It won’t happen again!
