A New Leader Arises

Sawyer takes his leadership role seriously.

Sawyer takes his leadership role seriously.

A Sawyercentric episode of Lost!  You can’t get much better than that and I was thoroughly entertained the whole way through.  It was awesome to watch Sawyer step up and take on the leadership role and work his lying skills to perfection.  I admire a good liar and Sawyer’s one of the best.  I don’t feel like recapping every little thing today so we’ll discuss the important stuff.

I loved Juliet taking Sawyer’s side on going to the beach even though she didn’t agree with it.  It seemed in that moment that she deemed him the leader and he ran with it.  Sawyer’s always had the ability to lead couched in sarcasm and self-interest.  They ran into Amy (aww a character named after me!) and her dead husband, Pete, being abducted by The Others and Sawyer went off to face them with Juliet as back up.  And quite able back up she was, she shot a dude before he could really start to make a move on Sawyer.  He killed the other one and Amy freaked out about having to bury the bodies so The Others wouldn’t kill them for violating the treaty.

Once in the Dharma camp, we meet Horace, leader of the Dharmites.  Here’s where Sawyer stepped up and told him his whopper about them being shipwrecked while searching for a ship called The Black Rock (which of course is on the island) and that his name was James LeFluer.  All of this came flowing off the top of his head and it was beautiful.  Horace told him they’d ship them all off on the submarine, which seemed to be a mighty fine idea to Juliet and Miles but Sawyer convinced them to stay and wait for Locke to get back with the Oceanic 6, namely Kate.  Juliet agrees to wait 2 weeks but flash ahead 3 years and she’s still there.

Future Amy is heavily pregnant and married to Horace now.  Horace is passed out after getting drunk and throwing dynamite at some trees near the electric fence.  Fine idea, that.  While Horace appears to still be the leader, it seems to me that Sawyer is the guy everyone turns to.  Sawyer is yelling at the young doctor who clearly has no experience in birthing babies and he heads off to get Juliet, who is busy fixing a Dharma vehicle.  Awesome.  She doesn’t want to deliver the baby since all the babies she delivered on the island died but he convinced her to give it a try.  She comes out and announces that it’s a boy but we never get a name.

Flashing back in time, Sawyer also had a run-in with Richard Alpert who came to find out what they did to his two men.  Instead of lying, Sawyer told him the truth and Richard believed it enough to fore go starting a war.  He took Pete’s dead body back to appease his people.  Um…okay.  Whatever works for you.  Loved the comment Sawyer made about talking to the guy with the eyeliner!  Total shout out to the message boards.

A woman in love.

Back to present day time in the 70’s and Sawyer picks a flower and takes it to Juliet to compliment her on her fine work that day.  She smiles at him and he tells her he’s proud of her and both of them make with the “I love you’s” and kiss.  I’ll be honest, I’ve been waiting for those two to hook for awhile now and I figured any decent amount of time passing on the island without Kate’s presence and they would.  I like them together too, but then I’m not attached to any of the Lost couplings.  Like my soap, it’s not worth the emotional trauma of investing in a pairing.  One half will either die or move on, so why bother?  It’ll be interesting to see what does or does not change with Kate’s return.  A conversation that Sawyer had with Horace about having loved a girl but being able to move on because 3 years was a long time seemed to indicate that he could be over her, but his stare upon seeing her again said something else entirely.

Sawyer gets woken up by a call from Jin and he takes off like a bat out of hell, after lying to Juliet about what Jin was calling for.  He stands there as Jin pulls up and Hurley and Jack hop out of the van, followed by Kate.  They stand and stare and then we get word that Lost is gone for 2 weeks.  2 weeks!!! I have to wait 2 weeks for resolution?  Damn Lost, you wound me!

Previews showed Sayid being captured and interrogated and possibly hurt by Sawyer.  GAH!  I have to wait for that?  Also, we need to find out who in the hell Amy gave birth to.  She’s supposed to give birth to someone we know or someone important so I’m dying to know who that was.  Not to mention of course the reaction of Juliet and Kate to the new pairings and such.  Also, where was Daniel?  Did he take the sub off the island?  I felt so bad for him when he saw little Charlotte!  It’s going to be a long two weeks waiting for some answers.
