Sexing Janice does not bring out the best look for Sylar, in any way. NEVER AGAIN!
Last night’s Heroes was all about identity issues. Claire apparently is thinking about hooking up with Gretchen but she’s afraid of ruining their friendship. Not afraid of doing a chick, mind you, just their awesome friendship that thus far is based on stalking and lies. Yay. Matt apparently really does have Sylar inside of him, which may invoke more sexual images but that’s not where we’re going here. Sylar’s using Matt’s mind control now and having a blast with it. HRG doesn’t know what the hell to do with himself anymore so he wastes his time trying to save a freak. Tracy has nothing going on so she decides to be helpful as well. The only person not having an issue is Samuel, who is busy being awesome. I am in love with Samuel now, even if I hate his circus of freaks.

Nothing like a little hazing...Gretchen should be forced to wear the bag 24/7.
Where to start? With a little girl on girl? That’ll get the attention, won’t it? Sadly, not so much. Actually, despite the annoying lesbian undertones, the Claire/Gretchen stuff was kinda fun. The sorority kidnapped them and took them to a slaughter house where they had to find clues and whomever won would get to avoid hell week. Seeing as hell week started off with kidnapping and near death, avoiding it would probably be a good thing. For some reason, there were only 4 girls involved in said hunt, teams of two. Not much of a competition, especially when the other two are typical ninnies screaming at every little thing. We got a Carrie homage and had flying meathooks and all sorts of things.

They took every opportunity to bring these two closer and closer.
Of course, while Claire and Gretchen are strolling through the house of death they decide to converse about the kiss. It seems that Gretchen swings both ways and has apparently sexed up 6 or 7 dudes. I call foul on that cause I can’t imagine 6 or 7 dudes wanting her, but whatever. She’s had girlfriends too. Yay. Claire is all virginal and embarrassed about it. I imagine Gretchen can guide her into the world of sexual discovery, no? That’s what they kept hinting at, from the time they were smooshed into a trunk together to Claire falling on top of Gretchen to save her from a hook. Very subtle sexual signals, writers.
Once you got beyond all the sexual tension, the murder stuff was actually kinda fun. Becky was trying to kill Gretchen but Claire kept saving her and then Becky pinned her to the wall with some piece of wood but Claire swung something and knocked her down and suddenly they all saw her. Her plan of isolating Claire actually backfired because the other two sorority girls walked in and ran to help Claire and Becky took off. So I guess she has more explaining to do, seeing as Gretchen pulled her off the wall and they all watched her heal. More friends! HRG will no doubt be pleased that his daughter is acclimating so well and the world knows her secret.

Tracy bonded with murder boy.
HRG, meanwhile, was in Georgia with annoying Jeremy. His belief that if they called the cops everything would be fine didn’t so much work out, as the cops refused to release him and were charging him with the murder of his parents. Jeremy didn’t help matters by sulking and refusing to do anything to contradict the charges. HRG called in Tracy to pretend to be the annoying kids aunt. She got on board and was all drawn to the kid for some unfathomable reason. They set him up with a new life in Georgetown and had everything ready to go.

Farewell, Jeremy, you will not be missed. Go be emo in heaven or hell. Probably hell I guess.
They get him out of prison, though, and some protesters come up and start yelling at Jeremy. He reaches out and puts his hands on one and kills him, then turns around and walks right back into prison. What the hell? you may ask. What the hell indeed. Tracy is pissed that she wasted her time and HRG is shocked. Jeremy gets led outside by some rogue cops and chained to a truck. He doesn’t choose to save himself and Tracy and HRG find him dead in the road. Nice. At least we don’t have to deal with him anymore. HRG is lost again. Tracy, meanwhile, wants nothing to do with HRG anymore and takes out the compass that Samuel hooked her up with earlier in the episode. Looks like she’s heading to the circus.

Why didn't she just stay away?
Sylar/Nathan saw her there and remembered how she helped him once and Samuel got pissed and told him that she helped Nathan and he needs to get the real him back. Sylar wonders where the real him is and then we find out he’s inside Matt. Well first he’s inside Janice, er, Matt’s inside Janice but it’s Sylar doing the deed? Whatever, gross. She is undeserving. She was quite satisfied too, much to Matt’s chagrin when he realized it was Sylar.

This is what Circus Sylar was wearing. There are just no words. NEVER AGAIN AGAIN!
Sylar was on fire this episode, taunting Matt about the forbidden fruit and laughing at the irony of someone else controlling Matt’s mind. He tries to order him to find his body and return him to normal but Matt starts drinking. He finds that by drinking he can silence Sylar, so he gets trashed. Prior to that he tried to send Janice and the baby away, but she just went and got his partner who told him sobriety day one starts again. Hello, throw his ass in rehab, morons. While Matt was passed out, Sylar took control back and seemed quite happy about matters.

Samuel takes out the police and enjoys it. Nice to have a psycho again!
Samuel, as mentioned, went to Georgia to retrieve Tracy and show her the glory of circus life. She was unimpressed but when the kid died she seemed to be planning on using the compass to get back to him. Samuel, unlike HRG and Tracy, decided to do a little something about the cops killing a 17 year old. He collapsed the entire police station, tres awesomely. It’s nice to have SOMEONE taking care of business. If he brings my Sylar back all the way I will love him beyond all reason.
So that was all. Next week, Hiro reunites with his girl and they sing a song. Okay, I am lying about the song part, but it would be way more interesting than Hiro himself is. On the bright side, we’ll get to see old school Sylar there to kill her, so that’s a good thing, right? Right???
There are no words for Nathan/Sylar in that getup. And then the evilSylar was doing Janice! Last night’s episode could have had me hate Sylar forever.
The best part of last night was the sorority game. Mainly because it had the most movement of any story. We have Claire drawing closer to her would be lesbian girlfriend but also they revealed her powers to two more people as well as unmasked what’s her name with hers too. It should mean Claire should have a big follow up next time we see her, presuming she doesn’t show up randomly in an HRG scene out of context.
Speaking of HRG, what was up with him calling Tracy? What could she have done? Being the kid’s aunt? No need for that shit, he has endless group of people with cooler powers who could have just taken Jeremy right out of there. And Angela could have done the aunt bit much much better, as well as probably buy the redneck town and make it her own. (If I concentrate on the stereotypical portrayal of southerners in this, I might go ballistic so I won’t). At least Sam knew how to take care of business. But all that said, none of this episode really would mean anything, other then Tracy being mad at HRG and closer to joining the circus which could easily have been done in any other numerous storylines.
Sylar being Matt and Matt becoming Sylar is some movement but it’s in Matt’s mind which doesn’t count. And plus it will be several episodes before we’ll see them again and when we do, we have Janice so Yuck.
Yes, they tried to do some irreparable damage to Sylar yesterday but it was fail due to his awesomeness when taunting Matt. I have to go back and find the line that I loved so much…do you remember what it was so you can save me the pain of rewatching?
There was no point to HRG calling Tracy. NONE. Like you said, it was just a contrived way to make her unhappy (wasn’t she already?) and leave her ripe for the picking for Samuel. Lame. Angela could have ruled that town, as you said, without using a power at all. Or Haitian could have zapped the cops memories and gotten the kid out. Parkman, as you said, would have been good as well. But no, Tracy and her water power that had no use. Oh, but she has connections. So does Angela! Lame. I’m glad the kid died though.
Isn’t it sad when something featuring Claire was actually the highlight of the episode? I worry that now that Becky is exposed that they’ll send someone new after Claire. Unless she just stays invisible the whole time, but now they’re on to her and probably have allies. Will the whole sorority be informed of Claire’s ability? HRG should spend more time reining in his daughter than hanging out with emo kids.
Samuel is pretty damn cool. I am mad at him for bringing Tracy to the circus but I love that he’s irritated with Nathan and wants Sylar back. I’m so on board with him it’s ridiculous.
The line I think you loved was something like “If you’re into labels…”
My love for Sylar made me watch his parts only again:
“Forbidden fruit, my favorite kind.” And he eats the apple. Made me think of Twilight. hehe go figure.
“That is the second Parkman I made scream today.” After Matt yells at him for doing Janice. Hee…awesome. That was the line I loved
“Well that’s not very nice, you’re quick to label.” After Matt tells Janice he had to get rid of a very bad criminal.
“Oh, there’s so much space.” When Matt talks about his Sylar’s consciousness rattling around in his head.
“You still haven’t figured out how to get rid of me, genius.” Because making fun of the lack of intellect is always fun.
Yep, those were his golden moments.
For such a tormented and sad little emo boy, Jeremy still found time to get a manicure. Seriously, the boy has chick fingers!
I do have to wonder why they keep messing with the absolute beauty that is Zachary Quinto. Having him wear the grey sweatsuit, that ridiculous “circus” outfit, and Janice? Not cool!
HA! Well I’m sure he told the technician to wear a glove so he wouldn’t kill her while she was cutting his cuticles. Awesome. I should feel bad for rooting for him to die, but really, why bother? He just would have annoyed me like Hiro does and I don’t need more of that. Samuel took care of the cops, so no harm, no foul.
I don’t know what they are doing to ZQ. It’s like a contest to see how they can make him look worse in each shot. I mean, how do you ruin him being shirtless? You have the hair be messed up and have him being shirtless with Janice, that’s how. So uncool. They better get Peter naked quick, he’s the only pretty I will have left at this point.
The circus outfit better be burned. Pronto!
I am with you on the Samuel love! He is my favorite right now. And I’m thinking he has turned into the character that Sylar was supposed to be. He is bad, but he seems to be doing bad things for a good reason. Sylar, season one, was just bad. Killing for no reason. Then they spent a few seasons trying to make him more sympathetic, but almost ruined the character in the process. So, they brought in Samuel, who I find to be a bad ass with a purpose. I’m liking him more and more each week.
I’m actually really enjoying the Sylar/Matt moments. At least when we see him, he is acting like Sylar. Even if he is stuck in Matt’s mind. Now that he has taken over Matt’s body, I hope we see him more. But, the Sylar stuck at the circus is just annoying to me. The lines you pointed out were awesome. My favorite was, “Well that’s not very nice, you are quick to label!” Lol.
I think you nailed, AGO. Samuel is what Sylar should be. And what they could have done had they stuck with him being a Petrelli and seeking redemption. He still could have been killing but he could have the purpose of keeping them safe from PAtrelli. But no. They dicked that all up. He could have even done that for awhile, gotten bored and then gone bad again. Sigh. Samuel is very cool, I just wish he didn’t hang at the circus. hehe
Love Sylar/Matt. I really and truly do. His taunting jibes at Matt never fail to make me laugh and he is really enjoying it and you can see it. I’d rather him be him and doing that but I’ll take what I can get. My favorite was the second Parkman I made scream today, just cause that’s the kind of thing to cut a man to the bone. hehe
One thing I’ve noticed about Samuel is that he has taken over Mohinder’s intro/outro philisophical rants. Hell, have we even seen Mohinder at all this season? Has the actor been fired?
I read that we’ll see Mohinder again in November. Sylar mentioned him in this last episode, saying that he was doing his daddy’s research still. I guess he’s hanging in the camp where Angela’s freaky sister was?
Now, supposedly one of the main males did get his walking papers unexpectedly, but it’s not broken who that was yet. I keep hoping they’ll kill Hiro but I’m not that lucky.
