Two Dankos? I'd rather have two Sylars!
Well, I knew this shape shifting business was going to confuse me, I was prepared for it, but I wasn’t prepared for it to be quite so soon and quite so frequently. I think I have it figured out now, but I hope that Sylar dials back on it some, if only because I miss seeing his pretty face when he’s busy being other people! Not a win! I think I’m going to go back to my tried and true list of what I liked and what I didn’t this week because I thought this episode was a bit of a mixed bag, probably helped by the return of Hiro and Mohinder to the forefront. Never good for me, those two! On to the list!

Noah really lost it this episode.
What I liked:
- The chapter title being on the body bag carrying faux Sylar. That was a nice effect.
- HRG being suspicious of Danko. I’m glad that he didn’t buy into dead Sylar at all. He wouldn’t be HRG if he didn’t test the theory.
- Vengeful Matt. Oh yes, it was good to see that guy again, taking charge and attempting to kick ass. Of course he stuck at the point when it came to killing the girlfriend, but he wouldn’t be Matt if he had killed her. Still loved him working the mind control on Danko and ferreting out his girlfriend and telling her of his lies.
- While I may have gotten a little overtired of all Sylar’s disguises, I did enjoy his joy in each one. The hubris he showed as Danko, the attitude he gave Sandra with her divorce papers…Sylar characteristics leaked out and that was cool.
- Okay, the face that Ando had to make to make baby Matt Parkman happy did amuse me.
- Coyote Sands. Well we have a direction that most everybody is headed at least. HRG, the Petrelli’s, I assume Parkman and Hiro and Mohinder. Maybe, just maybe they’re all going to go come together and figure things out! I can hope!
- HRG holding the gun on Sandra thinking that she was still Sylar. I kinda loved that it took Lyle calling with a Mr. Muggles related question in order for him to be convinced that it was his wife he had a gun on. Of course, by then it was too late and she didn’t want to talk to him anymore, but that was well done. HRG really was awesome the whole episode running the gamut of emotions. I was very impressed.
- Matt using mind control on Danko to make him tell Elana that he was lying about his whole life; loved watching him fight doing it but not being able to. And I loved her realizing that he was willing to watch her die before giving up his hunt.
- Hiro stopping the bullet from killing Parkman. So, he has his uses from time to time, if he does more stuff like that I might grow to like him again.
- Well, at least we have parallels. Everybody’s losing their love. Danko, Parkman and HRG…poetic justice I guess.
- HRG pretending to be Sylar and giving Danko his files as a test to prove that he knew about Sylar. While it messed further with my head, I enjoyed HRG’s brief moment of power and control. Didn’t last for long though!
- Matt meeting his son. It was cute. I’m a sucker for dads and their babies, so this one was easy. But…I’d have liked to see him ask some questions there, instead of just accepting it.
- Good move on Sylar faking being really and truly dead and making the ninja’s think that HRG had murdered one of their own. I did love his telling Danko that he squeezed out some extra blood for show.
- Sylar’s irritation at nearly being killed, coupled with him spitting out the bullet. At least this week Danko showed he was thinking on his feet more again. After Sylar was shot and he pretended not to know what HRG was talking about, it was a good move.
- Danko and HRG leaving messages to their non-receptive women at almost the same time. Again, nice parallel. I don’t know that Sandra/HRG are done forever but Elana seems to have come to her senses anyway.
- HRG is reunited with Claire. I may not like her, but he does and he clearly needs her right now, so I guess that’s good, since we’ll never be without her.

Matt Parkman meets Matt Parkman.
What I disliked:
- I said it above but it bears repeating, Sylar was Danko, Sandra and some random ninja dude this episode. That’s too much. Trying to figure out who was whom hurt my head, hence the blog title!
- Baby hijinks. You knew it was coming. I’m thankful that Parkman has met his son if only to keep Hiro and Ando off babysitting duty for too long.
- Promise me an Angela episode and then just give me a teaser at the end? Not cool.
- Japanese Texas Truckers. It’s like they tried to figure out someone more annoying than Hiro. They succeeded. Kudos. Of course he was around less, so he was less bothersome.
- I don’t like to see HRG lose his mind the way he did but I did think it was well done. I’m glad he’s headed to Angela and co.
- Angela making them dig up the bodies instead of just telling us whatever happened at Coyote Sands. I mean, it’s clear as day that people with powers were killed there, so why not just spit it out? I guess we have to wait until next week.

Can you blame baby Parkman for crying with these two in charge of his well being?
So that was that. I guess I weighed more in on the liked side than disliked, I just found the episode a little confusing with the many faces of Sylar. On rewatch, it was easier to tell when it was him, of course, I knew that this time around, but I would say clues are given in body language and attitude. I can learn to deal with it, I guess, but I hope they don’t overuse it.

All politicians have skeletons buried in their closet, guess it's fitting that Nathan should have to dig some up.
Things are finally coming together, heroes are uniting and with only 3 episodes left for the year, that needed to happen. I’m looking forward to whatever Angela might deign to reveal to us next week. I love the woman but she drives me insane. Still, I think we’re going to get something at least! I look forward to it.
I wasn’t all that impressed with this week. It wasn’t bad but I just didn’t feel like anything happened! I liked the HRG stuff but being a huge daphne fan it kinda stung how fast he got over her.
See, that’s where I was. It was fine but it wasn’t exciting in any way. It just felt like the episode before the good stuff happens, if that makes any sense.
I didn’t like that Matt seemed to be like “Oh, baby!” and forgot everything else, didn’t even question it being his kid! I mean, wasn’t he under the impression that the kid was his wife’s lover and that was that? I’d think a conversation about matters would be warranted after he got a look at the kid. I suppose it’s coming but it was abrupt for him to go from the low to the high so quickly.
hee, I loved the body bag having the chapter title too. Looked really good.
As I’ve said before, though I enjoy HRG putting one on the bald guy (I shan’t say his name) I really wish we could have seen more of what HRG was thinking and why he was suspicious. I know, he’s just HRG and he’s like that, but I still would have thought it cooler my scenario that HRG is relieved Sylar is gone but he doesn’t dare to pull the shiv out, only to be convinced by someone they need Sylar and when he does, shocked beyond shocked that it wasn’t him after all.
Elana was freaky looking and appeared to be a CGI effect all her own.
And that’s funny on Angela doing the pointless by having them dig up bodies only to tell them they were dead and that she was responsible for their deaths. I wish there was something that she needed that was buried with one of the bodies but that would make too much sense.
Aww I like my HRG to be smart and suspicious. I’m glad he didn’t believe Danko would take down Sylar on his own. Who could?
Hee, I know you hated Elana with a passion. I don’t even know if that’s how her name was spelled but that’s what I assigned her. You’ll be happy to know that I found a pic of her but I refrained from using it out of deference to your fear of her freaky looks!
Yeah, Angela. Making them dig up the bodies so she can tell them how they died. Yay. Just talk, woman!
I’m with doublebitch on this one. Nothing really happened.
As I feared they are going to be overusing Sylars morphing abilities and though I knew all along that they would and I even suspected it before I actually saw the first evidence of his transformation, I’m still disappointed. They could have made it interesting at least, but no. The way they are handling this it only takes me out of the story and I end up just being happy for the actors who get to pretend to be Sylar being someone else for a while. I could tell that each and everyone of the regular cast was having a ball with their Sylarfied characters. Good for them, bad for the me as a fan of the original pretty Sylar face.
As HRG walked across that room to Danko’s office I thought he’s being way too obvious and that Sylar wouldn’t really act that way. So I was clued in from the very beginning but it was still a joy to see HRG take control of the situation. Unfortunately it didn’t last. And that’s what made me angry. Do they really think that a man who’s been at this for about twenty years would go after a shapeshifter without formulating a plan of how to immediately convince the people around him of the shapeshifters true identity? Oh please. HRG might want Sylar dead but he isn’t stupid. Unless he was just too upset about Sandra wanting him gone. That might be the key for those two to get back together, but I still don’t like they way this show constantly dumps down the smart characters. It’s like Salem brain, only one can have them at one time. This was Sylars episode, too bad for HRG.
I really hope there’s something stupefying under that sand, because if not, I couldn’t care less.
Matt with the baby was cute but why didn’t he ask about who’s the mother and where is she? Not that I want her back but it would have been nice if they had settled the matter in this episode instead of bringing her back for good. And Matt in the beginning, turning towards the black end of the spectrum was cool too. I just wish he’d have time to stop and think how easy it would be for him to become his father. And of course he wouldn’t shoot the girlfriend…
Pretty Mohinder filling his old apartment with clues with which anyone can follow him and the others to that Coyote Sands place? Not the smartest move but he is still oh so pretty. And why exactly was he hugging Matt before they parted? Weren’t they just fighting a moment or few episodes ago? I guess they made up and renewed their true love.
P.S. I’d rather see Matt and Mohinder with little help from nurse Peter to imitate 3 Men and a Baby than Matt trying it with ____ and Ando. Nothing against Ando, but ____ is another matter.
The rest of the show? Not really worth mentioning.
Haha yep, you called it on the shape shifting, I just didn’t think they’d run it into ground in the first episode! I do agree, they had a good time playing their Sylar roles and I thought everybody did a nice acting job. I just wished it hadn’t been overplayed and like you said, pretty obvious once you started paying attention. Like you, I also didn’t appreciate the lack of actual Sylar pretty on my screen. He looked molten hot when he was on and I didn’t approve of that being taken away from me.
I agree on HRG losing too much control as well. I can write it off as to being upset over what happened with his wife but he should have been better prepared to bring out Sylar’s real identity. Shooting him wasn’t the best plan for sure.
That Matt thing was mystifying, it was like, ooooh baby, everything is fine now! Who cares where he came from and where his mother is, I have a kid! Who cares about my beloved Daphne dying? They should have had him ask a few pertinent questions before baby bonding commenced. That being said, 3 Men and a Baby starring Parkman, Mohinder and Peter? Yes…I am in! hehe
Mohinder is so, so pretty but still so, so dim. He may as well take out an ad as to where they’ll be…sigh. Oh well, we pet him and move on!
I love Ando minus ___ and agree, the less said about them, the better. Sigh. Maybe ____ will become a man next season? One can hope!
Hiro, become a man? Why do I have the feeling that as long as the creator of this show keeps hindering (as in writing incoherent storylines) his creations success, that wont happen. Kring isn’t Kripke, and it’s not like I trust the man with the better track record either.
With Danko and Sandra out of the way it was way too obvious HRG to be Sylar too. They failed with that shadowing miserably. Only way it would have worked, would have been if Sandra had actually been herself… Though I did enjoy HRG turning on himself and not believing Sandra is really Sandra and pulling a gun on her. Overplaying it is the problem as you said.
The correct way would have been to keep us guessing which sudden character twist is Sylar morphed into someone else and not each and every single weirdness being labelled as Sylar’s games. Just think of the possibilities with everyone acting just a bit off but actually being themselves. Sylar, even while morphed, might end up looking like the normal one.
3 Men and a Baby. Now I have this sudden urge to hunt down that movie and watch it again. Maybe I should start a movie blog and just go through my DVD collection and some other classics.
Oh I know it’s wishful thinking. I have fond memories of future, bitter Hiro who’d seen too much. Just like future, badass Peter (minus the stripper). I guess I should rewatch season 1 since those two will probably never become those characters due to all the future tinkering. Sigh.
As usual, your idea would be way better! Not a surprise there though. Just having subtle differences instead of clear cut changes in characters would have been enough. Or morph him into someone who keeps us guessing anyway, like Angela. If he was Angela vague then I don’t think I’d bat an eye.
Hehe I’d love a movie blog. A couple of years ago I did a blog on myspace about movies I’ll watch over and over again, especially those run a billion times on TV but they suck me in each time. I need to go back and reread that!
Wasn’t sure where to post this comment, but I’m sure you’ll get it.
Yeah – my dream was really weird! But nice. I have to write them down right away so I don’t forget them.
Hehe Yes, I got it! I love having dreams about famous people or things. When I was in my Twilight haze I woke up thinking about the characters and knowing they’d been in my dreams. I couldn’t remember what they were about unfortunately.
I thought I’d give you a heads up. I’m going away for a long weekend and wont be able to chime in on the SN third brother discussion until it’s all too late. I did however reserve a blog domain but I lost an r while doing it.
And to stay on topic. I miss the first year future heroes too, but not until you reminded me of them.
You won’t miss a thing, cause Supernatural is repeats until the 23rd or thereabouts. Sucks but what can you do? Enjoy your long weekend!
I’m thrilled that you reserved a blog domain, when you get all set up you’ll have to link me!
Ahhh I’ve never forgotten the future heroes, with Peter all bitter and hard and sexy and Hiro much more badass. Obviously I need to schedule a Heroes Season 1 rewatch this summer too!
