So, I made a promise a week ago and I intend to keep it even though I don’t have a whole lot to say with the show being about as exciting as a trip to the dentist lately. Actually, a trip to the dentist is more exciting because I hate the dentist and get nervous and my heart rate speeds up. Days leaves me entirely cold right now, so it doesn’t even deserve the dentist comparison.
I guess we’ve had some storyline progression lately, albeit nothing good. EJ & Nicole got engaged, which was actually rather cute and sweet for a brief moment in time. Of course, it was delayed by Nicole gallivanting off to meet Dr. Puffy to threaten him into giving her a baby. Somehow that managed to spoil the romance of the moment for me. I’m not sure why that is? Cause god knows that lying about still being pregnant and running around town frantically trying to find a baby are part of the foundation for a good relationship. The kind that lasts til the end of time!
Did anybody NOT see it coming that preggers girl would demand that Nicole bring her fiancee forward? And that Nicole would pressure Brady into pretending to be said fiancee? Higley, your twists and turns are about as twisty and turny as a ruler. GAH.
In other couples news, Lucas and Chloe are moving full speed ahead toward a Valentine’s day wedding. What could possibly stop this meant to be couple from tying the knot and being together for all time? Certainly not Chloe’s fantasies about Dr. Perv! The galling thing is that I could actually root for Chloe/Dan if they hadn’t had the groping in the exam room. I certainly don’t care about Chloe/Lucas in any way and Dan/Kate I just supported to get away from Chan, so I would have been fine if the couple hadn’t come about so skeevily. But the breast grope coupled with the fact that she is engaged to his girlfriend’s (or ex-girlfriend now) son just sickens me. And then showing the grope approximately 957 times didn’t help matters. Now they’ve got the Chloe in a red babydoll teddy thing to flash back to daily instead, but they already killed any potential hotness for me.
Dr. Dan was able to interrupt his prurient fantasies to save Theo today at least. Really, how did Salem even function before he was around? The man has saved half the town at this point and he’s supposed to be some kind of specialist but instead he does it all. Does Kayla spend her days filing her nails and reading? Ooops, I forgot, Kayla doesn’t exist. Anyway, Dan did some kind of brain surgery (of course) to relieve the pressure on Theo’s brain. Meanwhile we got to witness more hysterics from Lexie. Why was she yelling at her father anyway? He didn’t do anything wrong, she was busy yelling at him when her son wandered off. I’m sick of her acting like such a martyr. Either get her DiMera on or get the hell out.
We nearly had a sex scene this week, that was not Chloe related (seriously, they all seem to be right now) but cooler heads prevailed. Philip and Stephanie were all set to have a good time when Philip decided that they were rushing things. Rushing? They had their first kiss a week ago, isn’t it about time to go to bed? Not that I would have minded if they had. It was nice to see shirtless Philip again, I was afraid that Rafe dude had stipulations in his contract that he was the only one allowed to be shirtless.
Speaking of Rafe, he got some sort of infection because of his stab wound getting infected. You know, that wound he got and instead of reporting he went back to the loft to let Sami sow him up. Yes, this is the kind of intelligence and loyalty that I want any Fed protecting me to have. Ugh. Of course it was just another excuse for him to be shirtless and for Sami to get closer to him. No, I still don’t see any chemistry, how am I supposed to when she’s like 8 months pregnant?
Besides, today I was knocked out by the anvil of EJ informing Lucas that he’d set Sami free, which what the hell, they weren’t even together anyway, but I think the writers forgot that. And Lucas got all huffy and asked why he would care. Cut to Chloe talking on her cell chatting with Nicole but probably fantasizing about the Magical Surfing Penis again. Lucas also sarcastically threw out EJ being the love of Sami’s life, so I don’t know if I should fear a reemergence of the EJamicus triangle or if instead fear a Safecus triangle with a side of Ejoledy. Or maybe they’ll all combine and we’ll get some male on male hook ups. I’d honestly rather that than a return to any of the triangles mentioned above. I hate triangles.
Are you aware that John/Marlena will be off this show in approximately 2 weeks? You wouldn’t know it by the fact that they’ve all but disappeared from our screens again. I mean, it’s pretty well known that they’re going to get married before they head off to the sunset, so shouldn’t they have a little bit of screen time to reestablish their relationship? Or will they get married a la Tony & Anna, off screen, and then leave town?
The last thing I want to discuss is Chex…Chelsea and Max had a passionate (well it was supposed to be, stomach churning is more accurate in this viewer’s experience) kiss on New Year’s and it looks like they talk about it tomorrow. Joy! What made Higley think that going back to more uncle/niece action would be acceptable to the viewing public? The reason people hated Stax was because of this, yet she’s revisiting it with a different niece? Doesn’t change the equation, which MathMasterMax should be able to tell you. But she didn’t consult the Maxematician, she’s just going to force another chemless pairing upon us, because who wants couples that are hot and make sense? Not a Days viewer, that’s for sure!
I think that about covers the things on my mind. I’m sure Terry will pop by to point out that I didn’t discuss his precious Melanie, but I figure since she’s busy appearing in every single storyline going about now, or will soon be doing so, I don’t need to give her any more attention than necessary. Sorry Terry. I’ll be back next week to discuss more of the same!
It’s difficult to comment about the show since I’m not watching. Of course I hate Chex and it’s my #1 reason.
I had to laugh at Dan. My friend yesterday thinks the show is trying to make him a complete freak with his sexual fantasies but since he’s still Dr. Hero that can’t be.
And they haven’t had J&M on lately? How are they going? They just gonna head into the Brady pub with bags packed and say goodbye? No, that’s what they will do.
Hee, maybe they’ll just leave a note for Brady saying goodbye. Actually, they do have stuff coming up, Dr. Taylor is gonna be Dr. Psycho and want John for herself. He starts remembering things but she convinces him that his therapy isn’t working and tries to get him to leave to start a new life with her. Marlena and Brady team up to expose her as a fraud or something. All of this will happen in the next two weeks. Why drag out a story when you can rush through it at the speed of light?
Ha, you are not watching because of Nick primarily, my friend, and I know it. Chex has barely been on at all actually. Max must not be the golden boy anymore, at least not right now. Maybe he’s busy working out for that football pilot. HEHE
I really think Higley has no clue what a terribly perverted monster she has created in Dr. Dan. He’s still treated as Dr. Awesome and nobody seems to question his perviness. I don’t get it. Clearly she has a hot doc that she wants to grope her so she’s playing it out on our screens. Perhaps she needs to start therapy with Dr. Taylor.

You forgot to discuss “psychic” Bo. The only way this story would be interesting is if Celeste shows up to be his “spiritual guide” and then ends up having a hot affair with her son in law. Lets face it, affairs are the only thing that make Abe and Lexie even remotely interesting.
I liked shirtless Philip! HOT HOT HOT. I am even liking him with Stephanie, so alas I know they will go down in flames.
Oh, and doublebitch, his name technically is Brady Brady. Jawn’s “real” name (at the moment – it could change again in the 2 weeks he has left) is Ryan Brady, so that makes his son Brady Brady.
Hey doublebitch, I’m winning you back to soaps now! So awesome! Brady was once Brady Black but they retconned John’s paternity for the billionth time and he’s now a Brady & DiMera. His Dad was Stefano’s father, Santo, and his mom was Shawn Brady’s sister, Colleen. It was all rather gay and involved a pornstache and a nun. Sadly it was 1000% times better than what we have today though. Funny how that works!
The girls in the office are Stephanie Johnson, daughter of Steve & Kayla, and Melanie Layton, daughter of the not so dearly departed Trent Robbins and probably Nicole, though we don’t know that for a fact yet. Melanie was initially an interesting character but she has taken over the show and become most annoying. Stephanie I can deal with when she’s not yammering about Melanie, so that’s about 5% of the time.
Philip is the one with one leg, although they have either forgotten that or they don’t care about it. He recently climbed up a fire escape with nary an issue, so I think they’ve chosen to retcon that. Higley feels if she didn’t write it, it must not have happened.
Mosaic, you pretty much nailed the percentages. I had to stretch my brain just to come up with what to say about this stupid show this week. So I decided to write about the alleged “storylines”. (she says laughingly!)
I did leave off Bo the psychic, an egregious oversight. But is he officially psychic or is he only “Theo” psychic? Or is he the Autism Whisperer? Chelsea will be pissed, he took her only job.
I’m ok with this John going, he was fun when he was mean to Marlena but when he decided he wanted her anyway that lost me. I mean, why would you want a woman who wouldn’t accept you for what you are and was constantly telling you that you sucked? Maybe he is a masochist. I do think they should at least be on the scene a couple weeks before they leave though. Ridiculous how rushed that psycho doctor storyline is gonna be. Meanwhile the baby hijinks can drag on forever.
DB, you’re right on Lucas, Sami did break him forever. It’s sad because Bryan Dattillo is hilarious in real life, I wish they’d make his character more like his portrayer. Alas, that would give them less time to spend on Max and Sami and Nicole and fake and real babies.
Nole I have a sinking feeling that there is not going to be any autism for Bo to be the whisperer of. This injury to his brain will miraculously “cure” his autism and by next month he will be SORASed into a love interest for Hannah Montana(aka Melanie).
Hee, Ciara is gonna be pissed if her pal is taken away. I figured we would get a Shelle love story between those two in a year or so! So the knock on the head will cure the autism you say? I considered that but I figured Daniel would actually come up with some cure for autism instead. I mean, he is the miracle worker of the show isn’t he?
I feel duty bound to point out that Sami is concealing an even more gigantic lie than Nicole, and there are still some EJami fans, so I have no problem continuing to root for EJole. They’re the only things I like about the show right now.
I think the point of today’s EJ/Brady and EJ/Lucas convos was to set up Rafe/Sami/Lucas and EJ/Nicole/Brady. One of those triangles I look forward to and the other I will FF with a vengeance. Don’t forget Will is returning.
I FF Chex so I have no idea what they’re doing. The autism story I don’t even have to FF to not pay attention to. Don’t care about Bo’s visions–don’t care about Bo. Or Hope. I’m sorry for J & M fans that their exit story isn’t one at all but is apparently going to be more about Dr. Taylor, which is nonsensical.
Danloe–the only good thing I have to say about is it will end Lucloe. In this case two wrongs almost sort of make a right. I do think Chloe and Daniel are likely going to be riding off into the sunset together in March.
I would also like to inquire where Kate bought that, um, “blouse.”
I’m bored to death with Philip. His chemistry with Stephanie is at “wet noodle” level for me, and it ain’t getting better. How can two such pretty people not spark for me? And why do I not even hardly look at the screen when JKJ’s on it anymore? Because I don’t care, he’s stuck in the most horrific triangle on the show–worse to me than Lucdanloe–and there’s no relief in sight. I could live with him with Stephanie, though I will be royally bored, but he has NO STORY. This story is about an 18 year old and a, what, 24 year old fighting over him. It’s so ridiculous it pains me.
Yes, I felt that the EJ/Lucas convo was to set up the Safecus triangle as well, but Lucas did throw in that “love of her life” comment. It could have been sarcastic of course, it’s hard to tell on this show. I’m not so sure she’s not ready and willing to go back to EJamicus either. I know Will is returning, I’m really not ready to think about that. Sigh. They better hire a much cooler will than they used to have.
Hee, Sami’s lie is more gigantic if only because her baby belly is bigger than Nicole’s pillow belly! I agree, it’s as bad as what Nicole is doing, but you know, the “mother of my child” power cannot be diminished. Not on this show. UGH.
Sounds like you’re paying about as much attention to the rest of the stories as I am. I really couldn’t talk much about Chex because they’re just there. Same with the autism, although occasionally Lexie’s caterwauling breaks through my subconscious. Seriously, I wanted to smack the hell out of her for the way she reacted to Theo falling. As a doctor, she should have been checking him out a little more and shitting a brick a bit less. I know, he’s her kid, but use your training. Too bad Rolf was not on hand, someone competent.
I would be fine with Danloe leaving the scene. I really don’t care at this point what happens as long as Dan is gone. That character is just so foul at this point, no redemption is going to work.
All of Kate’s clothes come from old movie castoffs, especially Pirates of the Caribbean.
Well, the one thing we have to hope for, and it’s a slim hope I do admit, is that this Kiriakis/DiMera storyline that kicks off shortly will actually go somewhere and possibly give Philip some scenes with EJ again. Those two together bring me no end to joy. I really would be quite alright if they scrapped the triangles and had them have a nice EJilip pairing at this point. Philip/Stephanie is rather boring and sadly so much about Melanie that it’s not even tolerable.
I am shocked that Terry has not stopped by to lambast me for not including Melanie in my Days round up, minus the final paragraph. Maybe he’s just pleased that I mentioned him. Hee.
Glad I’m not the only one wandering where Rolf is. Now, he could cure Theo’s autism. All he would have to do is put his brain on a disc and make him forget everything, including the fact that he is autistic.
No doubt, Rolf is the real “miracle man” of Salem. He should totally kill Daniel for us and reclaim his rightful throne as the only competent doctor in town. I miss Rolf.

None of the stories are making any sense now, and you’ve explained that perfectly. You should send this to the magazines (seriously). As for J&M… yep, they’re going to get married onscreen a week from Friday. Now, whether they get to say goodbye to any character they’ve interacted with in the past twenty or thirty years is still to be determined. As my J&M fan friend put it – the best spoiler that week is the inauguration pre-emption.

I initially used The Max Whisperer for Nick to describe how Nick seemed to be the only one to calm him down and we’ve all adapted it as needed, particularly with Chelsea being the Theo Whisperer and then it hit that Bo, if he only sees Theo in his stupid visions, could also be included in the fun! Of course fun might be the wrong word for this storyline but I’m sure Higley thinks it’s really cool!
you make me sad, why didn’t you discuss Princess Melanie. She is the best part of days of our lives. She is the only reason i am watching. And for one thing, melanie is not in every story. She only in like 1 or 2, that is the triangle with Steph/Philip and with Max/Chelsea. She is not in the autism, the dan/chloe. But i love my Melanie.

I did not discuss Melanie because she’s become a caricature at this point, shoehorned into storylines. Stalking Steph and Philip, getting scenes with Maggie to make us feel bad for her (epic fail), sticking her nose in Max’s business. Plus she’ll be involved in the DiMera/Kiriakis upcoming feud over the alternative fuel project. So yeah, I think she’s in pretty much every major story going. No, I don’t count the autism story as major. And Danloe? Hell it’ll be Man in a couple months, all Melanie has to do is get injured and then Dan will be in love with her.
I think the Mia girl is doing a fine job but I’m not looking for her to be Nicole’s long lost daughter, no thank you.
Uhhh no she is not…getting involved in Max businesses. She is his sister and no she is not stalking Philip/Stephanie. Everywhere she goes, they are at. She was the first person at cheq rouge and then they just happen to come. I love the Melanie/Maggie scenes, they are sweet.

She showed up at Chez Rouge because she knew Philip and Stephanie were going to be there. Pay attention to the show, Terry, especially the storyline you claim to inexplicably love. Melanie/Maggie scenes are not sweet, she’s playing Maggie clear as day and Maggie looks like a fool for believing her. Mel getting sucked into the Kiriakis/DiMera thing will only serve to make her involved in every storyline that is not autism related. If you don’t think that’s too much, then you’re mistaken. I agree that Nicole has been on too much lately as well, especially since they have her doing the SAME THING every day. But then they have Mel doing that too, shrieking at Stephanie and trying to land Philip. Riveting.
Melanie doesn’t like Stephanie, its good soapy because i love girl/girl rivals.We need them on the show especially they forgot the Nicole/Sami, Sami/Kate rivals.
If it wasn’t for Melanie hating Stephanie, Stephanie hating Melanie. There would be no rivals on the show, no fights, catfights.
Melanie thinks Philip is Hot, she doesn’t want Stephanie with him because she doesn’t like her.
The only hope i want out of this DiMera/Kiriakis thing is Melanie as Nicole’s daughter, which i believe that is where Higley is going. But i wouldn’t mind Melanie and Mia as Long lost twin sisters and Nicole as their mother.
What else could the line mean, ” I felt a connection” with Mia that came from Nicole. it was something like that. That would be a big twist, Nicole ends up adopting her grandchild LOL.
actually Melanie been the owner of the fuel project since beginning of December. She is involved with Philip and Stephanie, if anyone is getting sucked into the Philip/Stephanie/Melanie/Titan story it is EJ but that is ok because we might get some Nicole and Melanie scenes which i am dying for.

Mia is only on for as long as it takes for her to reject Nicole so Nicole can end up with Sami’s baby. This is clearly where things are going. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Hack makes Melanie her kid, but Mia is not going to be. Sorry.
Fans have been hoping to have the DiMera’s & Kiriakii go head to head on something since the terrible written, completely stalled dock wars, so they’re using the fuel project to facilitate that. EJ isn’t hopping aboard the Pheph/Melanie story at all.
Well having Melanie on almost everyday is working for the ratings. They been holding steady ever since Melanie came last summer, they been holding steady around the 2.1-2.3 marks. So that tells me that those viewers like Melanie, Nicole, Stephanie and Sami Show.
I know Melanie is the only reason, i am still watching.
FYI, I do not want the DiMera/Kiriakis war, i just wish they would do away with the cartoonish family of the DiMera and just keep EJ.
What we need is more Teens; Mia, Will, Melanie…keep Mia and bring in maybe Tiffany to Salem from France(Mel’s bestfriend).

You cannot claim that Melanie is the reason behind the ratings rise. That’s really unquantifiable. We absolutely do not need any more teens on this show, we’ve got enough of a mess with the 20 and 30 somethings without Higley having a whole new generation to destroy.
It’s taken me a week to watch Days. It’s really painful. The nicest thing I can say is that I like the dress that Kate bought for Chloe. The only thing that would redeam Daniel at all in my eyes is if just became full on evil like Alec Baldwin in Malice “I AM GOD”. Or you know he left to go on a surfing expedition.
Yeah, if I taped Days I doubt I’d actually spend time watching it right now. Since I see it live, I just keep it on out of habit at this point. But it is painful, often I ignore it.
I AM GOD for Daniel would be interesting, as would him dying in a painful way. That’s my idea for redeeming him. I hope he gets the hell out of town in March when SC’s contract is up. DO NOT RESIGN HIM!!!
